This interesting sheet is a design for a buffet cupboard, intended to be filled with glass and silverware, as is shown in the drawing, which includes an elevation and plan of the buffet. The cupboard consists of two parts: the upper half with what is probably a downward-sliding door, meeting a hinged flap intended to create a larger surface to display pieces of silver or glass. The lower part of the cupboard has two simple doors, and can hold larger pieces, such as the wine cooler shown in the drawing. The drawing is executed in a simple late Baroque style of around 1730, much influenced by Daniel Marot (1661–1752). A comparable design for a buffet by Marot himself is preserved in the Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam.1
